“Photography has almost no reality; it is almost a hundred per cent picture. And painting always has reality: you can touch the paint; it has presence; but it always yields a picture – no matter whether good or bad. ”
— Gerhard Richter, in conversation with Jonas Storsve, 1991

Easter Break

March 21, 2016

In-progress view (20 March, 2016)

Today is the first day of Easter Break here in Belfast, and I will be away from the studio (since school will be closed for two weeks). I'm heading off to London today for the week, then on to Münich to see the large exhibition Painting 2.0: Expression in the Information Age curated in part by David Joselit at the Museum Brandhorst. Then I am planning to go over to Scotland for a few days. I will post some updates about this exhibition and others over the course of the next few weeks. Then it's back to the slow-paced development of this project.

Prev / Next

Over the course of the winter and spring of 2016 I will be the Artist-in-Residence at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University in Northern Ireland (UK). This blog will chronicle my studio explorations and related research from mid-January through July.
